The 120th Congress of the Scottish Esperanto Association will take place in Dunfermline, the ancient capital of Scotland. The venue will be Dunfermline Carnegie Libraray, situated close to the medieval Dunfermline Abbey and within walking distance of the City Hotel where the Congress took place in 2022.
The original library was donated to the town by Andrew Carnagie, a son of Dunfermline who became the richest man in the world during the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries. Unlike many millionaires he gave away most of his wealth for philanthropic causes. This is why there are so many Carnegie Concert Halls and Carnegie Libraries throughout the world.
In 2017 a three year modernisation project was completed with a beautiful extension to the stone-built original containing a museum over two floors, three exhibition galleries, a local studies centre, a children’s library, and a cafe.
We have booked the Queen Anne room, a comfortable and pleasing room of a suitable size for our friendly and intimate Congress.
The Congress fee will be £40 for the three days. We will take tea, coffee, and lunches in the Cafe, which participants will pay for themselves. The same will apply to the Congress Dinner which will be in a restaurant still to be arranged.

La 120a Kongreso de la Esperanto-Asocio de Skotlando okazos en Dunfermline, antikva ĉefurbo de Skotlando. La kongresejo estos Dunfermline Carnegie Library – la Biblioteko Carnegie de Dunfermline. Ĝi situas tre proksima al la mezepoka Abatejo de Dunfermline kaj ene de piedirebla distanco de la hotelo City, kie okazis la kongreso en 2022.
La originala biblioteko estis donacita al la urbo de Andrew Carnegie, naskitulo de Dunfermline kiu fariĝis la plej riĉa viro en la mondo dum la fino de la 19a kaj la komenciĝo de la 20a jarcentoj. Malkiel multaj riĉuloj li fordonis la plejmulton de sia havaĵo por filantropiaj celoj. Tial ekzistas tiom multaj koncerthaloj Carnegie kaj bibliotekoj Carnegie tra la mondo.
En 2107 finiĝis trijara moderniga projekto kun bela aldonaĵo al la ŝtonkonstruita originalo kiu enhavas muzeon tra du etaĝoj, tri ekspoziciajn galeriojn, centron de lokaj studoj, porinfanan bibliotekon, kaj kafejon kiu rigardas tra larĝaj fenestroj al la abatejo.
